Have you ever experienced a sense of calm before a storm? The Quiet is an immersive installation that recreates those atmospheric conditions in a closed space, exploring the complex ways the environment can play with our biology.
About
The installation will feature a collection of objects - a particle machine, tropical plants, meteorological instruments, sailors’ storm glasses and a shark oil barometer – housed within an insulated room. These objects, brought together by artists Revital Cohen and Tuur Van Balen, will work together to generate and contain a pre-storm environment, whilst exploring the aesthetics of the invisible and our relationship to this sensory phenomenon.
By recreating the complex ways the environment plays with our biology, this installation will evoke an intangible and subconscious experience that draws on the synthesis of fact, folklore and faith.
