'Whilst identifying as an artist, I also work as a trauma therapist; interest in how we interact with each other and the world, with an emphasis on double edges (violence, peace, greed, oneness, memory and geography) fuels my art practice.
About
My artwork takes the form of lively paintings both studio based and temporary in the great outdoors; these might be three dimensional, site specific or living. Two dimensional pieces often gather narratives from life experience that influence further research and projects.
My photographs, books and texts also document events, questions and concepts; with snapshots and memoirs from these fleeting moments, time and place. ‘ L. A. Simmons
A selection of Simmons’ landscape paintings, prints and artist's books will be in the library exhibition space from 27th May to 2nd June 2019. She will be developing new work on site, as part of a long standing project with libraries.
