A preview of 3 Agitations, a split EP featuring experimental composition by Natalie Marr and Daniel McClennan; published by Ladette Space.

About

Both artists present disquieting sound pieces. Disrupting perceptions of time, and space and the body’s place in this equilibrium.

Marr’s sonic essay a fact and a memory is a response to Alain Resnais’s film Last Year at Marienbad. A study on the motifs of memory, time, order and disorder and the tension between these. Percussive and haunting, the flashes of dialogue creating a strange sensation of disorientated nostalgia.

McClennan’s Arrhythmia, a work in two movements, loops collected sound to create a visceral journey of growth, and subsequent deconstruction. The body as a site of assemblages, as the site of possible breakdown and disharmony. The sounds of a collapsing vessel. Bruising, fracturing, purging, timings out of sync.

Natalie Marr is an artist and researcher based in London, working in photography, video and sound. Her work engages with ideas of encounter and transformation. Research and reference plays an important part in the framing and tone of the work, usually taking its inspiration from the science fiction imaginary or history of cinematic film. She took part in The House Party, a group exhibition at Ladette Space in June 2014 and has been actively involved with events at the gallery since it’s inception.

Daniel Jack McClennan is an artist, composer and musician living and working in London. Works are often geared around an encounter with trauma, of glimpsing an ungraspable ‘Real’, which hides below the surface of a representational and referential veneer. Often disquieting and sometimes outright difficult, pieces address and even encourage rupture and breakdown; amplifying moments of over-proximity to an unnerving underneath. He previously worked with Ladette Space in April 2014 when he presented a solo exhibition and release the EP Collection 3.

EP will also be on sale from our website from Saturday 31st January
