The Riverdale Hub Gallery is excited to announce an exhibition featuring the work of Miyakah Emon entitled “The Invisible Playground” on display from March 6 to April 15 at 1326 Gerrard St E. Meet the Artist on March 23 from 2 - 4 PM.
About
Miyakah is a black, neurodivergent artist from the Canadian prairies who embodies the tradition of Ancestralism, which is based in the belief that power and wisdom flow through the living from various levels of consciousness through their lineage. Miyakah's work is reminiscent of renowned artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat and many black diasporic painters. These works highlight a contemplative exploration of self and are rooted in honouring their ancestors and envisioning the future.
Miyakah’s work surprises and revels in compositions consisting of bold, dynamic and defiant brushwork. In many ways it can be said that their playground consists of the conveyance of sensation, chaos and emotion.
