Chinese Pop Artist and creator of Alexander McQueen's iconic floral skull Jacky Tsai explores Chinese identity in new exhibition
About
From 18 October - 8 November, The Fine Art Society in London will present Jacky Tsai's second solo show, The Harmonious Society, a series of 11 new works which take a critical and sometimes ironic look at Chinese identity, engaging with issues such as immigration, gambling, and the perception of cultural differences.
In this new body of work, the artist continues to work in his iconic pop art aesthetic, blending contemporary western artistic tropes with ancient Chinese artistry. All of works are handcrafted using a 3000 year old Chinese technique known as lacquer carving in which a wood panel is engraved by hand and then coated in several layers of natural lacquer.
