About

In keeping with tradition The Lowry Hotel's art programme will end the year with a group show previewing the work of artists Comme Ca will be working with in 2011. Principally they are artists whose work has stood out for their unique practices and individualistic approach to art making.

The Group Show is a real cross-section of artistic offerings ' showing off top quality sculpture, painting, photography and drawing. Not restricted by thematic boundaries, the exhibition gives an outing to new works from a selection of amazing local artists. Featuring;

Emma Lloyd: An incredible sculptor, Emma spends months at a time labouring over each of her works ' cutting and shaping the pages of books to create awe-inspiring sculptures from them.

Andrew George Magee: Under the influence of western esoteric tradition this arty alchemist creates ethereal five colour Screen prints.

David Hancock: The signifiers of David's work are often taken from historical practice, sources and themes. Appropriated and reworked - his exploration of composition and gesture make his drawings of people engaging and intelligent.

David Lake: Photographs from the jet-set 'man with a moving camera' hold the same interest as Vertov; recording the everyday life of cities across the world.

Rebecca Davy & Susan Massey: Picture Perfect is a collaborative painting project between the two UK artists ' a project undertaken over the period of one month to create singular works side by side.

Mike Dunababin: To design his digital prints Mike starts from hand drawn illustrations for ideas- often inspired by current events and popular cultural themes.

We will also be introducing the first project from recent graduate Iain North - an eerie collection of photographs that take a surrealist approach to questioning visual reality.

Together the works serve up an exciting preview of artists that will undoubtedly be seen out and about in Manchester next year.
