The Cynthia Corbett Gallery’s Summer Exhibition will have a special focus on British Pop Artist Deborah Azzopardi. Vintage and new works by Azzopardi will be shown alongside pieces by Gallery artists including painter Andy Burgess, photographer Tom Leighton and sculptor Nicolas Saint Grégoire.

About

The Cynthia Corbett Gallery’s annual Summer Exhibition will launch on 25 June in the heart of London’s St James’ with a special focus on British Pop Artist Deborah Azzopardi. Vintage and new works by Azzopardi will be shown alongside pieces by Gallery artists including painter Andy Burgess, photographer Tom Leighton and sculptor Nicolas Saint Grégoire.

Deborah Azzopardi is known internationally for her distinctive, playful and colourful pop art images that celebrate the drama and joy of everyday situations. She will launch a series of new works at the exhibition and will show, for the first time, the original paintings selected for a special edition of postcards for HABITAT – the Dating card series. It is the popularity of such published images that has contributed to Azzopardi’s global success and resulted in her originals being sought-after by serious international collectors.

A separate focus of the Summer Exhibition will bring together works by artists from the Young Masters Art Prize. These include past winners and shortlisted artists for the Prize, the Gallery’s not-for-profit initiative that celebrates contemporary work that pays homage to art history. Artists include Amartey Golding, Azita Moradkhani, Fabiano Parisi, Isabelle van Zeijl and Eleanor Watson and ceramicists Matt Smith, Lucille Lewin, Tessa Eastman, Katie Spragg and Zemer Peled.

The exhibition will also include a revisiting of Colin Wiggins’ Double Vision, which was one of the Gallery’s first curated projects. Wiggins creates etched portraits of his art heroes, inviting them to complete the works by adding their own portraits of him. He will launch a new Double Vision work created with Maggi Hambling CBE, with the full retail price going to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

The Cynthia Corbett Gallery has an ongoing relationship with the Amy Winehouse Foundation following the commission of Love is the Answer in 2016, a portrait of Amy Winehouse painted by Deborah Azzopardi. A portion of the sale proceeds from the remaining limited edition screen prints – which will be exhibited at the Summer Exhibition – will be donated to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

The Cynthia Corbett Gallery Summer Exhibition will be at the Royal Opera Arcade Gallery in London from 25 June to 7 July. The exhibition is part of Mayfair Art Weekend, which runs from 29 June to 1 July. More information: www.thecynthiacorbettgallery.com and www.mayfairartweekend.com
