British Museum Late: Journey through the afterlife: ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead British Museum, Great Russell Street, WC1B 3DG Thursday 17 February 2011, 18.30—21.00 FREE, JUST DROP IN home live art, in collaboration with the British Museum, presents a spectacular free event around the exhibition Journey through the afterlife: ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead, which closes on Sunday 6 March. The Book of the Dead was a compilation of spells designed to guide the deceased through the dangers of the underworld, ultimately ensuring eternal life. The evening includes a series of performances using spoken word, music, dance and film created by site-specific theatre company, Periplum. The evening also features a range of hands-on performances and workshops, focusing on the themes of the exhibition and contemporary thoughts and opinions on death and the afterlife. The evening will be set against the magnificent backdrop of the Museum's Great Court and Ground floor galleries.
