One Day Workshop Exploring The Art of Paper Cutting with Clare Pentlow
About
An adventure with paper, Clare will guide you in the art of papercutting working with both scalpel and scissors. Convert flat designs into 3d sculptural pieces using a variety of different techniques and learn how paper can be used creatively for different purposes. Abilities to be taught Ideal for beginners but suitable for all abilities. Group tuition and one-to-one support from the tutor will be given to your level of experience to achieve the aims for your work.
Course aims and skills/knowledge to be taught:
• Correct handling and use of scalpel
• Paper cutting techniques.
• Different methods of manipulating paper
• Awareness of different paper traditions from around the world
Course Outline:
• Intro to Clare and her work
• How paper is used around the world and different current artists working with the material.
• Using the scalpel and different types of paper
• Producing you own design.
• Sculpting techniques and how they can be used for a range of different outcomes.
• Working towards a final piece.
