Long-Sharp Gallery is pleased to present Text and Context, a collection of work by recent Whitney Biennial participant Rebecca Kuzemchak.
About
In this collection, Kuzemchak opens a dialogue about the history and politics of language, labor, and power dynamics within the art industry. Her works Babel and On Spectacle, are easily the two best examples of this exercise as each work highlights the aggressive and labor intensive nature of the art market.
Rebecca Kuzemchak is a New York Based conceptual artist. She graduated from Duke University in 2013 with a BA in Visual Arts, Psychology, and Religion, and earned her MFAfrom the School of Visual Arts in 2015. Kuzemchak recently showed her work at the Whitney Biennial with Occupy Museums’ Debtfair. The Debtfair asked artists to share their experience dealing with the overwhelming amount of debt obtained in undergraduate and graduate school. Curators chose Kuzemchak to participate with 30 other artists from a pool of thousands of applicants.
