An artist supper club with Coco Crampton and Inês Neto dos Santos inspired by circus acts and fairground delights.

About

A supper club inspired by circus acts and fairground delights, where playing with your food will be highly encouraged.

This artist Supper Club is part of the Open Space’s programme of events for Tender Touches, an exhibition curated by Huma Kabakci and Inês Neto dos Santos at AMP Gallery, 17 May - 30 June 2019. Tender Touches takes the form of an ‘art cafe’ where everything – from the food to the furniture and tableware – is both a functional object and an artwork. Drawing on the food-based practice of Inês Neto dos Santos, the exhibition blurs the boundaries between the studio, the gallery and the dining room, using food as a catalyst for conversation and debate.

Coco Crampton (b.1983, London) has designed the tables for Tender Touches. She completed her Masters at the Royal Academy Schools in 2014. She is represented by Belmacz London and was shortlisted for the Denton’s Art Prize in 2018. Her work has been exhibited in solo shows in Turin, Colchester and Norwich as well as group exhibitions including at Nottingham Contemporary, Wysing Arts Centre, Norwich Castle Museum. She has recently received a public art commission from Charleston Trust’s new Threshing Barn. Her practice borrows, hi-jacks and re-interprets forms of twentieth century art, design and architecture. Working across a variety of materials these new forms question the ideological and practical purpose of modernist designs, through the creation of playful landscapes, re-imaginings of dwelling spaces or places of social encounter.

Inês Neto dos Santos (b. Lisbon, 1992) is a multidisciplinary artist based in London and is co-curator of Tender Touches. She studied at the Royal College of Art (2016) and London College of Communication (2013). Her practice stands between performance and installation - using food, people and spaces as metaphors and prompts for discussion and conversation. Neto dos Santos explores the stories and performative actions behind eating, feeding, and cooking. She has exhibited internationally, including Lisbon, Porto, Madrid, Athens and London.
