The Immediacy of Paint: Surface, held at The University of Suffolk in Ipswich on 7July 2017 at 9:00 am, is a one day symposium focused on questioning how artists are currently exploring surface and the materiality of paint in contemporary art.
About
We are honoured to include Glenn Brown as the special guest speaker, one of the most revered artists of our time, whose work has been challenging ideas on surface through his unique vision.
By bringing together artists, academics and art students whose practice focus is on painting in the contemporary moment, the immediacy of paint’s materiality is explored through Surface.
Speakers include:
Kim Anno
Dr. Matthew Bowman
Glenn Brown
Shaun Camp
Christopher Hawtin
The topic of surface and painting is broad and with that in mind the aim is to present a variety of perspectives. This series looks to provide a platform for bringing together networks to further the dialogue surrounding painting today.
