Figurative artist Suzon Lagarde presents Opening, a solo show compiling four years of work.
About
Opening is a first chapter for the emerging artist Suzon Lagarde, acting as a visual incipit, announcing the commencement of recurring themes: painting to explore feelings of loneliness and longing, the solace found in daydreaming or the pursuit of unspeakable memories.
From observational paintings to imagined spaces, through the layering of vibrant colour and abstract marks across mediums; Suzon’s work stems from the present moment and drifts away into remembered and imagined presences, linking the real and the felt, travelling between pigmented shapes and ambivalent emotions.
Opening invites you to see each painting as portals, passages from daily life into dreamt universes, connecting shared physical space to the manifold inner experiences.
Suzon grew up in France and is currently living in London where she paints and teaches oil painting. She is regularly showing and selling work nationally and internationally. She exhibits with various Federation of British Artist societies and won the LeatherSellers award twice with the Royal Institute of painters in watercolours. She appeared on the TV program Portrait Artist of the Year (Seasons 5 & 7).
