SURFACE

The 2013 exhibition explores sculptural manifestations of surface from applied to pure, ambiguous to explicit. Surfaces that reveal and surfaces that conceal. The show demonstrates how the surface of a sculpture can confirm physical characteristics or become a tool for masking some deeper narrative. A diverse range of sculptures include a giant installation woven in wicker, combinations of sculpture and topiary, an inflatable, ceramics, metals and even motocross tyres. Participants include Ian Campbell Briggs, Joe Hillier, Pete Rogers, Nick Turvey and Sheila Vollmer amongst others.
