Lucy, a much celebrated plus-size life model is delighted to share with you her experiences while you draw her. Participants may try life modelling in the second half whilst others draw the ensemble.
About
One of London's most celebrated plus-size life models, Lucy Saunders will be modelling at an event called 'Stories of Women' at Hampstead School of Art on Friday 18th May, 6:30pm - 8:30pm. This is a life art session with a difference; artists are given an opportunity to draw and hear from a life model what modelling for artists is really like. This session is the first time 'Stories of Women' will be open for men to attend as well. Lucy is an experienced model who is modelling for the first time in more than two years and will talk about what she has learnt working in the life art studio. As she is now disabled, she will concentrate on short poses.
The second half is an opportunity for people to try life modelling for themselves (with guidance), and for others to draw the ensemble. The event creates a chance for artists and students to examine their own practice and be shaken out of the conventional life art studio session, perhaps in the way that using new media can help them discover new means of expression for their art. Those who are unfamiliar with drawing are also welcome to have a go, there is no set standard and anyone may gain from this experience. Drawing materials provided. Equally there is much to be gained by experiencing life modelling, in terms of accepting our and others' bodies. There is an overall feeling of wellbeing in the space.
