In Lotta's first solo show, ‘Still Life, Italy, London’, her figurative oil studies painted from life remind viewers to appreciate the beauty in the every day.
About
Having worked for 15 years in developing countries on a range of complex legal challenges, her paintings encourage viewers to stop and appreciate the beauty in the ordinary things around them, be they an egg, a set of cutlery or a corner of the terrace. They seek to provide the viewer with a brief release from the worries of the contemporary world.
Lotta's work charts the various places where she lives and works, in London, Dorset, Tuscany and Islamabad, and the different objects she finds around her. She’ll be showing streets around Marylebone, views across the Thames, and a range of landscapes from Italy. The show will have a particular focus on Lotta's series on penguin books, her grandfather Allen Lane having founded the publishing company.
Having painted for only two years, Lotta’s work has been selected for a number of exhibitions, including the Royal Institute of Oil Painters Annual Open Exhibition, Mall Galleries (2018, 2019), the Royal West of England Academy’s Annual Exhibition (2019), Chelsea Art Society’s Annual Open Exhibition (2019). She was also selected as a finalist in the Marshwood Arts Awards (2019) and Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter Prize (2018).
