Red Hook Labs is pleased to announce the first solo exhibition of photographer and artist Stef Mitchell.
About
The exhibition will feature photographs and drawings, as well as a new zine.
Stef Mitchell’s approach to photography is rooted in intimacy, earnestness, and youthful energy. Her portraits are at once electric and quietly tender, her drawings are crudely poetic. Mitchell was raised in Australia, but like every decent troublemaker wanted to see what New York’s fuss was all about. Her editorial commissions have appeared in i-D, Junk, Office, Twin, and 10men. In 2014, she released New Wives Tales, a limited edition artist’s book of illustrations published by Boo-Hooray Gallery.
This exhibition also marks the launch of Mitchell’s new limited edition zine. Produced in collaboration with i-D editor Emily Manning, the self-published zine collects portraits featuring Manning’s personal collection of Carhartt workwear. A limited run of 50 signed and numbered copies will be available exclusively at Red Hook Labs.
