In Solastalgia: Witness to change, artists Irene Godfrey, Mary Knight, Ana Mejia and Tracy Ward presents work that addresses the relationship between the environment and our interaction with it.
According to philosopher Glenn Albrecht Solastalgia is the “pain experienced when there is recognition that the place (...) one loves is under immediate assault...a form of homesickness when one is still at home”.
The show concentrates on human activity and the impact on our landscape whether through natural disaster or human intervention; that all have an impact on our physical and emotional feeling of home and our place in the changing world.
