Where did Social Media come from? And where is it going? Find out at our event - Social Media: Power to the People?

About

Where did social media come from, how has it changed, and where might it be going? This talk by Tori Truslow, Online Communication tutor at London College of Fashion, looks at the medium’s history of community innovation and corporate intervention, and suggests some key lessons to be taken from its eventful and often surprising development.

From the first social networks to the growth of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and beyond, to the possibilities introduced by virtual and augmented reality, the discussion will explore the way the digital landscape has been shaped by changing technologies and audiences – and what it means to be a ‘user’ in this changing sphere.
