These digital sketches document the artist’s journeys to Wadi Rum in the Kingdom of Jordan, The Everglades in Florida, The High Alps of Switzerland, as well as the everyday details of life in Berlin and the journey in time and space that we all make as our planet revolves around the sun. During the exhibition Faithfull will continue to make drawings, but this time depicting the animals from Bikini’s immediate neighbour Berlin Zoo. As and when these drawings are made they will be added to the display at Bikini and sent out via social media.
As a special event for the opening at Bikini Berlin, Faithfull will present one of his performative lectures amongst the fishes in the Aquarium of Berlin Zoo. Given this setting Faithfull has chosen to present the lecture ‘13 Fathoms’. Like the other of Faithfull’s lectures ‘13 Fathoms’ is a meandering, discursive essay that, in this instance, recounts thirteen tales of things below the surface of the sea – scientific curiosities, myths and legends of the deep and the strange politics of the ocean floor. The performance will be held in English.
