Prints made from discarded small-scale plastic objects that are found whilst walking through London streets by Claire Willberg
About
Claire Willberg's recent body of prints takes its inspiration from observing, collecting and recording the discarded small-scale plastic objects that are found whilst walking through London streets. The work is concerned with exploring ideas around temptation, related to the way we consume and look at the world, and tries to focus on the forgotten.
The prints in this series bring a collection of objects together allowing them to regenerate and adopt new identities that are recognisable by their shape and interaction with colour rather than their previous life. Representative shelves offer echoes of a commercial world, with objects combining and merging with layers to build, overlap and create spaces that have a familiar but distant reference to the real world.
Claire is a practicing artist based at Slaughterhaus Print Studio in Stockwell, South London.
