Sharon Haward - An Experiment in Town Planning Presented as part of a space in the City

About

Sharon Haward's latest experiment in town planning looks directly at the city of Southampton. As a placeà‚ of historical importance which has been shaped inà‚ the last halfà‚ centuryà‚ by the slow creep of unplanned urban development as well as radical and sudden change to the built environment brought about by war and reconstruction, Southampton is an ideal candidate for Haward's focused interest. Her approach to architectural forms is a personal one, creating in the gallery an environment that reflects on collective memoryà‚ and presents the city as stage onà‚ which different stories can be projected. Haward also draws on her own childhoodà‚  memories of attending school here and visiting the city with her family .à‚  For this show the gallery will become a whole cityscape, based on Southampton, where memory and feeling hold more importance than geographical accuracy.à‚  An Experiment in Town Planning is the first show of this summer's a space in the city programme. Please contact the venue for more details.
