A solo show of new abstract work by British contemporary artist Orlanda Broom. ‘Shapeshifters’ will showcase a powerful new collection by the artist, known for her richly saturated, dreamlike landscape paintings.
About
The greatest abstract artwork is expressive, emotionally charged, and open to multiple interpretation. And, in this solo show by Orlanda Broom - we see all of these qualities brought to life.
Painting with resin as her main medium, Broom’s canvases burst with explosive movement and fluid shapes - utilizing a playful colour palette in a celebration of colour, form and technique.
The title "Shapeshifters" gives a wonderful insight into how the works on show seem to ebb and flow, despite being firmly fixed on the canvas. But, also, the idea of “shape shifter’ comes through in a quite literal, non-mythological sense too- as the artist, by definition, is a creator of metamorphosis.
So, in all senses, this exhibition is designed as a form of pure escapism - with paintings that transport the viewer through their play with light, translucency and solid, vivid colour.
Leaving us with organic forms, which encourage an engagement and freedom of interpretation from the viewer.
