Introducing different approaches within portraiture and figure painting
About
Taught by James Bland NEAC, you’ll work with a model on a series of poses, learning to navigate tone and colour, proportion, lighting, composition, negative space, and will consider how to create a narrative depth.
James Bland is a figurative painter and a member of the New English Art Club. He has an MA in Fine Art and exhibits in galleries internationally, including the Natsoulas Gallery, California and the Lilford Gallery, Canterbury. His work features in the Ruth Borchard self-portrait collection and he has won several prizes, including the Doreen MacIntosh prize in 2015 and first prize in the Winsor and Newton Oil Painters Awards in 2013. Painting and drawing from life is central to his work and teaching.
