Sarah Knight - Abstract Landscapes & Botanical Prints

Sarah Knight takes inspiration from textures and light in the natural world. Each piece usually starts as a reflection on a place travelled to by Sarah and develops from pencil sketches focused on composition, line and form. Her prints and paintings are an attempt to capture the essence of a small detail in the natural world.

The original prints shown by Sarah in this show have been carefully handmade by the artist, using the linocut printing technique. Each design is a limited edition and her prints are signed and numbered individually -- making each a unique and an original piece of art.

A new development in Sarah's practice are the textured oil paintings shown in this exhibition. Using hand-mixed inks and paints prepared for linocuts, Sarah creates abstract, windswept landscapes. She then works over the paint surface with pencil, linking the pieces with a common thread of colour and line in these paintings.

These are fresh, calming and modern works, perfect for both contemporary and traditional interiors. The works are showcased at our relaxed and friendly gallery on the first floor of design-art hub OXO Tower on the South Bank.
