About

Sally Taylor's focus on drawing has earned her a growing reputation as an innovative young artist with something to say - the challenge is that we need to translate her work for ourselves. Her drawings are about language, and although she often works on the inside of old book jackets, her images are often free of words. Coloured shapes tumble from huge mouths and join the babble and discourse which fills our lives. Exhibition curator Andy Dalton, is keen to demonstrate the growing influence of Taylor's work outside the region. This exciting young artist has been shortlisted for the 2011 Jerwood Drawing Prize, an award which promotes and rewards excellence in contemporary drawing practice, as well as having work included at this year's Venice Biennale and a recent solo show in Project Space 2 at Mima (Middlesborough Institute of Modern Art).
