Sacred Art of the Silk Road, Dunhuang’s Buddhist Cave Temples is a special exhibition featuring just some of the wondrous arts found in Dunhuang.
About
Dunhuang is an oasis of ten thousand patterns on the edge of the Gobi Desert. A strategic and trading point on the Silk Road network, it was a vibrant hub of intellectual, artistic and religious exchange. Here, generations of pilgrims created extraordinary Buddhist cave temples, painted in brilliant mineral colours. Today, this UNESCO world-heritage site attracts worshippers, world scholars and millions of tourists.
