Russian Avant-Garde: Pioneers and ‘Direct Descendants’ is curated by Irina Gorlova, Head of Contemporary Art at the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. As a highlight of Qatar Russia 2018 Year of Culture, the exhibition presents the most significant achievements of Russian art from the 1950s to 1970s, known as the Second Wave of the Russian Avant-Garde, alongside works by such major figures of Russian art of the 1920s as Alexander Rodchenko, Ivan Klyun, Mikhail Matyushin, Vladimir Stenberg, Lyubov Popova, Ivan Kudryashov, Alexander Tyshler.
