Grems opens the first chapter in a series, taking up a carte blanche invitation to make unrestricted use of the Zirkumflex Space and culminating in a mural and a collection of Riso-printed illustrations.
About
Grems pushes boundaries to their extent. His two main creative tendencies, art and music, have developed in parallel. They tease and twist each other toward a more energetic production, continually forcing the breaking of new ground in his work.
As a “Paleo-graffer” Grems explores the anatomy and geometry of proto-alphabets such as egyptian hieroglyphs, mayan ideographs, the graphemes of etruscan or Aramaic alphabets. He harnesses a unique grasp of the letter and fascinating geometric abstractions, which is able to portray on any medium.
For his collaboration with Zirkumflex Grems has developed graphemes inspired by the runes– the alphabet used by ancient Germanic peoples.
On Friday, September 30, 2016 the exhibition will celebrate an opening night, from 19h until late. It will be accented by hip hop, deep house, broken beats of Grems and other guests and will be broadcasted live on Unknown Radio.
