Roderick Tye: The Human Presence, is an exhibition featuring the work of Roderick Tye (1959-2009), celebrated sculptor and dedicated fisherman. Curated by former colleagues at the Slade School of Fine Art in collaboration with UCL Art Museum, UCL Pathology Collections and UCL Anatomy Department, the display will present Tye's figurative sculptures and drawings.
About
Roderick Tye: The Human Presence is a new exhibition at the UCL Art Museum and the first major re-examination of the work of Roderick Tye (1959-2009), celebrated sculptor and UCL Slade tutor.
Combining figurative sculptures and rapid linear drawings produced by Tye after a period at the British School in Rome, the experimental installation explores the fragility of life through an intense study of the human body.
Curated by his colleagues at the UCL Slade School of Fine Art, The Human Presence offers a rare opportunity to see the products of Tye’s later passion for reviving Irish Fly fishing techniques, all set within the theme of life and death.
The exhibition also features samples from the UCL teaching collections including wax models, specimens from the UCL Pathology Collections and large-scale anatomical drawings by Charles Bell, UCL’s first Professor of Anatomy.
