Rhea Storr - Through a Shimmering Prism, We Made a Way

South Kiosk presents Through a Shimmering Prism, We Made a Way, a solo exhibition by Rhea Storr. The exhibition presents a new film work Square, Bridge, Garden, Hill (Three Sisters). Taking as its starting point empty carnival and parade routes in London, United Kingdom and Nassau, Bahamas, the film reflects on progress, the architectural histories of colonialism, and the female body in public space. Glass, mirror and stone are imaged in Super 8mm film, where texture and surface are used as a strategic way of moving through these four spaces. Alongside the film, three reflective bodies in carnival inspired costumes are situated throughout the gallery, the Three Voices. Each assumes the role of the eponymous three sisters, their bodies outlined by the environment they reflect. The Three Voices use their shiny surfaces as a defence whilst at the same time witnessing the space and each other, a devious opacity.  

Through a Shimmering Prism, We Made a Way is open between 4-27 June for pre-booked visits. Visits can be booked at southkiosk.as.me.
