About

Press Release - Reorientation of the Earth
March 2 - April 6, 2024

la BEAST gallery invites you to imagine a world free of uniformity, a realm that defies coherence; a new existence that has gobbled up familiar sights and sounds, spitting out an exotic vision, untethered from recognition. In 'Reorientation of the Earth' artists Josh Cloud, Annie Louise Goldman, Theo Michael, and Nathaniel Kyung Smith manifest a reality, rich with wonder and burdened by upheaval.

“Reorientation of the Earth” opens with a reception on Saturday, March 2nd, from 6-9 pm at la BEAST gallery in Cypress Park.

About the Exhibition

The essence of this exhibition lies in its ability to conjure a universe where gravity's hold is loosened, and the familiar dissolves into the strange. The artworks, while distinct in their creation, speak a common language of both disruption and delight, each adding a layer to the narrative of a new expanse. The artworks interlace to form a cohesive tapestry that speaks to the endless possibilities that emerge when we dare to envision a world turned on its head.

The artists invite us to exist in an alternative plane, all the while broaching a scattering of subjects. Broader themes of evolution, religious curiosity, and the intersection between the ancient and the futuristic, are ever-present in the show. This tapestry of thought-provoking works challenge conventional knowledge, encouraging viewers to contemplate an experience where traditional boundaries—whether they be physical, temporal, or conceptual—have been dissolved. Through a shared effort, these artworks explore liminal spaces, fostering dialogue between ancient wisdom and contemporary society.

In a world that often clings to the familiar, ‘Reorientation of the Earth’ stands as a beacon of novelty, urging us all to reconsider our perceptions of reality and our place within it. We are allowed to explore spaces where emotional vulnerability meets bold speculation. We have permission to question societal norms, broadening our views on spiritualism and scientific exploration. We must embrace the infinite possibilities that emerge from the act of reimagination.
