Reminiscences of the Unforgettable gathers contemporary artists whose works combine childhood memories, everyday objects, and experiences and transform them into icons that awake the curiosity of the audience.
The exhibition is presented by Galeria Canoa as a guest project at BBA Circle Gallery.

About

From the delicacy of the female faces created in clay to the strength of a copper weave, seven different visions are revealed towards the same symbolic identity: memoirs.

Guest  artists: Vera Ferro,  Pama Loiola, Maria Jordao, Gisele Ulisse, Olivia Niemeyer, Menote Cordeiro, and Rogerio Mendonca.

Vera Ferro recalls her father through the accurate reproduction in watercolor of the tools he used skillfully for his work. Through the texture of crochet, Pama Loyola combines moments of her childhood with symbols of the traditions, music, and culture of her region. The beauty of the tropical coast and the intersection of sea and mountain are the memories that Maria Jordao brings so colorfully and vibrantly to her canvases. Gisele Ulisse identifies herself with the distress of the metropole and plays with the chaos of the big cities by turning them into contemplative images of everyday urban life. In counterpoint, Olivia Niemeyer rescues the abundance of the Rainforest and the memories of the countryside where she grew up. Menote Cordeiro was born and grew on the banks of the Sao Francisco river, a place of unique fauna and flora. This inspiration brings to his works poesy and a particular color palette based upon the earthy tones of the Cerrado area in Brazil. Rogerio Mendonca creates, with the diverse soil tones and the iron ore of his region, female sculptures of intense beauty and delicacy.
