About

Patricia Siller, co-founder of Janet40, and Doreen A. Ríos, director of [ANTI]MATERIA, share their experiences while working within the production, curation, and research of digital art in Mexico. They will dive into the current state of affective networks in Mexico City as well as what it means to rethink the materialities of digital production while searching for ways of expanding its reach.

Why should I attend?

Get to know the digital art scene in Mexico City as well as the strategies that are being used from within a growing community in order to build effective networks inside and outside of the screen.

About the speakers

Patricia Siller (1989. Saltillo, Coahuila. Mexico)
She is interested in building bridges between curation and artistic production, and in how the boundaries between the two disciplines have faded.  Her current research is centred on the materialization of digital practices, focusing on contemporary art, specializing in Mexican
emerging artists.

She is currently co-founder and co-director of Janet40 and production manager for the Material Art Fair at CDMX. She has worked
for the galleries OMR and Marso and was in charge of exhibitions for Casa Maauad, all in Mexico City. She has collaborated for the digital
version of Código Magazine and for LAR Magazine and is the producer for Gallery Weekend’s Mexico Art and Technology annual exhibition by
Fundación Telefónica.

Doreen A. Ríos (Toluca, Mexico, 1992) is a curator and researcher. Her work focuses on curating and researching digital art, post-digital practices and new materialities.
Founder of [ANTI]MATERIA, an online platform dedicated to the research and exhibition of art produced through digital media, Ríos seeks to facilitate international exchanges between artists, curators, researchers and professionals interested in digital and post-digital practices through online/physical exhibitions. She graduated with honours from the Master of Contemporary Curation at Winchester School of Arts, specializing in digital cultures, and from the Bachelor of Architecture at ITESM. At the same time, she serves as chief curator of the Centro de Cultura Digital and teaches at the BA in Digital Art and the MA in Visual Studies at UAEMex.
