Prosaic: Generous is the third exhibition of small paintings curated by the Prosaic team.
Following successful shows in Rotherham and Sheffield in 2019, we are pleased to announce that Prosaic: Generous will take place at Globe Arts Studio in Slaithwaite, near Huddersfield between 19th September and 31st October.
The exhibition features the work of over thirty artists, many of whom are based in West or South Yorkshire and have national and international reputations. Several of the artists have exhibited work in high profile, prestigious shows like the John Moores Painting Prize, Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize (formerly the Jerwood Drawing Prize), and the Contemporary British Painting Prize. This means that Prosaic: Generous
is a great chance to see high quality work in a friendly and welcoming setting.
All the works selected are small and conform to a definition of paintings as ‘pigment on substrate’.There are many styles and themes on display, from landscapes to still life studies, from portraits to strange pictures that are harder to grasp. Prosaic shows are characterised by their variety with the pictures jostling for the viewer’s attention.
Many of the works will be available to buy. A percentage of the money raised through any sales will go to support the valuable work of Globe Arts.
