About

PROPS is an exhibition celebrating theatricality in contemporary art. The artists employ a variety of media, including collage, film, sculpture and performance to explore the narrative potential and rhetorical force of spectacle, ritual and display. At the heart of PROPS is an inquiry into the status and boundaries of entertainment in everyday life. The exhibition draws on an international cast of artists who play with the terms and distinctions of artifice and simulation, reality and play, participation and engagement. Co-directed by Adam James and Tintin Cooper. Guest Projects is an initiative conceived by Yinka Shonibare MBE to offer the opportunity for artistic practitioners,of any artistic discipline (dance, visual arts, music) to have access to Guest Projects exhibition space.
