On 29th of April, The Bookstore Space presents “Celebrating 3 years’ inexperienced development” by Justina Nekrašaitė, an exhibition about the gallery space, the contemporary art world and strategic naivety.

About

Justina Nekrašaitė’s work for the Bookstore Space sees her reflect upon the space model and also wider thoughts about the (Amsterdam) art world. This interconnects the culture of art exhibition openings, the contemporary art world and also individual (self-)reflection. Many conceptual aspects of the exhibition grew from thinking over the experience of three years of curating other artists’ exhibitions. This also includes failing, miscommunication, misunderstanding and disappointments. A lot of attention while developing the exhibition has been paid to the relationship with artists and the context of the space itself.

Justina has chosen to use the context of the objects and deconstruction of structures as the main core of the exhibition. “Celebrating 3 years’ inexperienced development” is the artist’s second solo show at the Bookstore Space. It is also the very last exhibition in the space, as the building in which it is located will shortly be demolished.

Just for the record, Justina Nekrašaitė worked behind the bar in the kitchen and also curated or coordinated exhibitions by the following artists:
