VO Curations announces the solo show of London-based Lebanese artist Nour El Saleh 'Exquisite Farces' on Thursday 5th September.
About
Completing a 3-month residency in our lead Waterloo location, previously home to David Chipperfield Architects, Nour El Saleh will unveil a new set of small and large-scale works, coming together in her most ambitious exhibition to date.
Emanating from Lebanon, much of Saleh’s work captures its warm colours, checkered floors and Mediterranean floral patterns. Her childhood also spent in the UAE, a host for impermanent residents, Saleh’s comfort was in a constant state of flux, and through the work she continuously grapples with a sense of belonging - deceivingly familiar domestic settings are tensed with anguish and actors, and through this use of dramatic yet comical imagery, Saleh reconciles these two forces. The exaggeration and scrutiny placed on the human form, seen by tactile gestures, dismemberment of bodies and loosened skin, reveal a visceral world that becomes invasively personal to the viewer, as well as Saleh.
'Exquisite Farces' is supported by Outset Contemporary Art Fund.
