This spring’s exhibition by selected members of the Society of London Potters brings together seven ceramists whose style, inspiration and techniques testify the versatility of the material.
About
A piece of handmade pottery is a pleasure to hold and to use, but pottery is not only for functional ware: the medium of clay can be translated into art or craft; can be fashioned into an everyday object or a piece to treasure and admire, or become an object to venerate.
The Ice House, with its central position in London’s Holland Park, offers an ideal setting for this compact exhibition of new work by seven members of the Society of LondonPotters: raku ware by Denis Di Luca, sets off the finely intricate sculptural pieces by Delfina Emmanuel and Joy Trpkovic; Ali Tomlin’s expertly thrown porcelain agate vessels contrast with the boldly painted bowls by Kyra Mihailovic. Coiled pieces by Sue Stokes express flow, rhythm and movement, whilst Carolyn Tripp’s intensely decorated small bottles hold your gaze.
