...the lengths of cloth, thick and heavy, exhaled a tempting odour, while the cloaks threw out their folds over the dummies, which assumed a soul...expanded, supple and warm, as if on real fleshy shoulders*

About

Priceless will showcase new artwork by Eleanor Davies, Penelope Diaz and Alice Foxen that has been created in response to Fonthill Road's unique character and rich history as a centre of fashion. Drawing on the shop signage, mannequin arrangements and display ornaments of the road, this exhibition explores the shop window as a stage where fantasies are acted out.

Fonthill Road is located in Finsbury Park, a short walk from Light Eye Mind.

Artist Bios:

Eleanor Davies graduated from Goldsmiths College in 2012 with a first class degree in Fine Art. In 2013 she was selected to be one of Selfridges Bright Young Things, creating artworks for a window display and products to be sold in-store. Eleanor is currently an associate at Open School East 2016.

Penelope Diaz graduated in 2012 with a degree in Journalism. This has formed her interest in engaging with semiotics to examine stereotypes, cliches and tropes and the use of intertextual references, recognisable images and music. Penelope was part of The Bothy Project residency programme in 2014, Scotland. Penelope is also currently at the School of the Damned 2015 and LUX Critical Forum 2016.

Alice Foxen graduated in 2013 in 3D Materials Practice (Wood, Metal, Ceramics and Plastics) at Brighton University. In 2013 she was shortlisted for the FRESH graduate prize at the British Ceramics Biennial and has recently completed a six week residency at the International Ceramics Research Centre, Denmark. Alice currently works as an Education Artist at Camden Arts Centre.
