An exhibition of figurative paintings by Jamie Gallagher.
About
Jamie Gallagher is a figurative painter working predominantly in oils. Shifting uncomfortably from sensitive to brutal, his work finds beauty in life’s more visceral themes.
This latest body of work aims to reflect the psychological effects on humanity of the current extremes of social, political and cultural disruption. The first ‘Post Normality Reality Disorder’ showed in 2019 and began exploring these themes — and this concept of a post-normal society. They reflected the dark, rawness of the time personally and socially — clearly there was more to come. Things are darker now, more of a struggle. We are asked to accept an ever more disturbing reality and expected to leave injustice and corruption almost entirely unchallenged. Conspiracy theories and fake news spread like cancer through our society reinforced by leaders who seem to seek only self-gratification — freewheeling into the next phase of our discomfort.
The Redux is the second phase of expressing and processing this trauma — Post Normality Reality Disorder.
The exhibition runs from 30.05 — 05.06 with this private view evening taking place on 31.05.22.
