The Brick Lane Gallery is proud to present 'POR FAVOR NO MOLESTAR' by Fransie Malherbe Fransden - An exhibition of contemporary artworks, exploring the perception of power and its use and abuse.
About
Fransie’s work reflects her empathy and passion for the unheard individuals, especially children, in our society and she looks to depict the plea of those whose rights are still being violated.
Through her latest exhibition, Por Favor no Molestar, Fransie strives to bring to light and to provoke thought, concerning those issues on which society hangs its dismissive, Do not disturb signs.
Fransie works mainly in mixed media. She collects and digitally alters images, which are then transferred manually onto gesso board. Layers of acrylic paint and glazes or washes are then gradually applied to build up the image and to achieve depth, definition and description of form. These effects are enhanced through further distressing of the artwork. Despite the collage effect that this technique offers, there is no paper present on the artwork.
In addition, Fransie also writes and illustrates children’s books. She has successfully written and illustrated a series of four children’s books, published under the name Alexander’s Questions.
