With pop my bling bling the art world turns pink, radiating charm and ambiguities that unite the emotions and desires projected by artists, curators and gallerists. In a polished and glitter environment, arising at the crossroads of exhibition and pop-­‐up store, the artists raise reflections within the wider debate on the contemporary art system. In an open confrontation with the concepts and aesthetics of the ephemera, the exhibition is set to evoke the sense of illusion and disillusion of when the bubble bursts. During the twentieth century, artists and their lives have become essential for value creation in a new economy where art, increasingly permeated by the daily, revealed to be a “petrified form of economic life”, as the art historian Michael Baxandall put it. An autonomy of art conditional to the external reality, which nonetheless leaves out a residual freedom, capable of uncovering new possible horizons. In a convoluted flow from product to process, immaterial to material, marketable to non-­‐marketable, pop my bling bling celebrates a new form of coexistence born out of the eternal marriage and divorce between art and the market. Through live performances and screenings-­‐ interventions as ultimate projections of the self-­‐ the artists speculate on the dynamics of the art market, even the complex paradox of self-­‐marketing, in a tone that oscillates between the critical and irreverent.
