Peter Clossick studied at Camberwell School of Art and Goldsmiths College during the early 1970s and has been engaged in professional fine art practice since. Before studying Fine Art, Peter studied and worked as an award winning shoe designer.

About

Peter applies oil paint very thickly and the paintings take many months to dry enough to be framed.

Steve Pill, the Editor of Artist & Illustrator magazine described Peter as being “in love with paint as both a substance and a subject. So oils are generously applied in a series of confident, purposeful strokes. Similarly, the colours are drawn from all corners of his palette, yet appear to sing in harmony and discord with one another across the course of the canvas."

Journalist and Author, Corinna Lotz says that Peter’s paintings “speak of the uncertainties, anxieties and mysteries of existence of our time. He makes us feel the present, the here and now of our being in the world, the joy and the anguish of life in moments of heightened sensation. This is never a simple description of the outer skin of things, but rather a multi-layered, multi-toned articulation of physical realities.”

He is a member and Past President of The London Group an artist collective established in 1913, also a member of The New English Art Club.
