New exhibition by Glasgow based duo, Pester & Rossi, at The Suttie Arts Space, ARI, Aberdeen.

About

Pester & Rossi are a collaborative duo based in Glasgow whose work spans sculpture, performance and installation using a wide variety of media. Ruby Pester and Nadia Rossi live and work in Glasgow, and have been working together since graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in 2008 on a range of projects including formerly as part of the artist collective NOWNOW and currently as part of Glasgow based band Fallopé & the Tubes.

Pester & Rossi often use imagery and props relating to the body, along with its physical and metaphorical associations providing a sense of familiarity for the audience, all the while generating irony and humour. Commonly, their work presents aspirations and desires of a group of people, regularly playing out a fantasy. Their art practice has been informed by working directly with various communities, specifically taking influence from groups of children and young people.

For The Suttie Arts Space the duo will create ‘Creature Comforts’, a new collection of soft sculpture exploring and questioning notions of human comfort in relation to the body. Visitors will find hand-made objects that slump, bend and hang, as well as stuffed objects that you can squeeze into, wear and wrap yourself up in. These soft, pliant, curious forms will possess many identities, shifting in response to interaction and engendering humour and whimsy. The work will come to life through participation, performance and events with aims to ignite a sense of nurturing, bonding and collective unity
