About

On February 5th Frank Malt ‘Steam156’ in collaboration with HustlBucks Brixton's youth social enterprise and design agency will hosan exhibition of photographs at the 198 Contemporary Arts and Learning. This unique show will showcase a range of selected, rarely and ‘never seen before’ images from Frank ‘Steam156’ Malt’s collection. The photos, taken by Frank Malt on many of his

travels around the world between 1985-2015, will offer an exciting glimpse and insider’s view in to the world of the graffiti writer, from graffiti and street art on walls and trains to images of the artists themselves.

As a former graffiti writer, Frank has had unprecedented access to many of the most significant and interesting talents in graffiti writing and has spent many years photographing them, the places that they work and their lifestyle. This, accompanied by the fact that Frank has been tireless in his documentation of graffiti, has resulted in an impressive archive of photographs. This will be a unique opportunity to view images from one of the largest and most comprehensive private graffiti archives in the world.

Frank ‘Steam156’ Malt began his ‘writing’ career in the early days of European graffiti, 1984, and has been a consistent and avid promoter and documenter of graffiti and street art ever since. This early involvement has led to Frank becoming one of the world’s most respected and leading experts in the subculture. This expertise has meant that Frank has been asked to contribute images to many publications over the years, these include amongst many others; Hip Hop Connection and Graphotism Magazine. Further to this he has produced his one series of DVDs and has recently produced three impressive books on the subject; ‘Street Art London’,

‘100 UK graffiti artists’ and ‘100 European Graffiti Artists.’
