'The artworks are a response to my first visit to Poland, exploring not just the beauty of the countryside (lakes, forest, farmland), but also the history of that part of Wielkopolskie with references to battles, poetry, partition, insurgency, landmarks and Polish identity.'

I have been a full time artist since leaving art school in 1977.
My practice is wide ranging and can move from figurative paintings from life or the imagination to illustration, large commissions, print-making, collage, film, performance, installations…..
I am more widely known as a figurative painter specialising in 'Trompe L’oeil' and have completed many commissions throughout the years around the world for private patrons
and through top London based interior designers for celebrity clients. Often my work carries a personal narrative that I hope the viewer can connect with.
Surrealism and the absurd are regular themes.
I often collaborate with my artist wife Chris Czaińska in film or performance, installations or large painting commissions when we are known as “ The Fabulous Czainskis”.
For the last twelve months I have been creating a series of artworks responding to my introduction to Poland.
