A weekend of live performances

About

This two-fold event opened with a week long group exhibition, which ends Friday July 24. If you have not had a chance to experience the exhibition there is still a little bit of time left! For part two, the gallery will be emptied of all objects for a weekend of live art, performance art, dance, and movement, July 25 & July 26. This will be the first time live performance enters and completely takes over Songs for Presidents intimate gallery space. The performance program is filled with an amazing group of performers from New York City and beyond. To be shared with the public will be invigorating new works, existing works, durational performances and short intense pieces – creating a dynamic, must see, weekend of live performances in Bushwick.

About the event: With an emphasis on the body in movement - socially and physically - the artists and works performing in NOP’s inaugural event, speak towards an extra felt language of the body, not immediately translatable, but emotive, gestural, descriptive, which unfolds feelings in, on, and around the body, to reveal an architecture of emotions. This body can be found oscillating between endless postural stances, gestures and actions, composed and proposed, in the subtleties and hardness of moments. The emotionality of the body is not only seen, heard and felt to be moving through a wealth of articulations, demands, and complexities but also reveals a deeper encounter felt between bodies. The experience of the art presented in this two-fold event, offers the public to read the exterior life of the body, the emotions worn physically, as a non-subservient complex to the inner life of the body.

Notes On Performance is a nomadic project, collecting, staging, and taking notes across performance disciplines. Multifarious in nature, NOP includes events; exhibitions and festivals, planting shared workspaces across cultural spheres.
