Parallels Part 3: Central Heating Visions

The third chapter of the exhibition Parallels continues on October 15 with an opening that will inaugurate an installation by the artist Caroline Bourrit from Neuchâtel and a series of new works by Zurich-based Urban Zellweger. The evening will conclude with a concert by Save My Skin Music, an experimental project from Biel, which evolves according to the musicians who compose it; for this occasion, Chri Frautschi and Vera Trachsel will play in duo. The onirical installations of Caroline Mesquita and Tabita Rezaire will still be visible until October 30th.

Parallels, which is unusually long for the CAN, has been on view since January and follows a particular pattern: the rooms host works by the artists and invite the public to navigate in spaces, each (in-)dependant on the others. They are distributed by a red glowing corridor looking like
an artery, a vessel created by the duo Barbezat-Villetard. A series of openings inaugurate new rooms each time and these fragments, presented in a continuous flow evokes, in their multiplicity, this very same collective exhibition. The final part, which takes place between September and December 2022, is entitled Part 3: Central Heating Visions. The subtitle is a nod to the heating factory that once occupied the space and also suggests the notion of perception, be it sensitive, cognitive or extra-sensory. The practices prioritised during this period of time develop around the idea of imaginary world, utopia, appearance which refers to works often immersive and sensory.
