Originally starting in London and now in its twenty-third edition in the capital, Parallax ‘Art’ Fair opens its doors for the first time in the great city of Manchester at the USA Suite (Sachas Hotel), just off Piccadilly Gardens, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November. With an average of 120 display spaces and over 3000 works of fine, decorative and applied art, the fair continues its tradition of being dubbed Europe’s largest indoor artist and designer consumer fair. Over 40,000 art and design enthusiasts enjoyed the fairs last year and took advantage of the free entrance. Large numbers are expected for this popular visual extravaganza in Manchester. As well as fine art, visitors can also browse exquisite pieces of jewellery design, textiles, furniture, ceramics, photography, and household goods and applied arts all at wholesale price. There is no extra commission on top of prices, unlike dealer and gallery fairs, and no VAT on most pieces. All the exhibitors are creative entrepreneurs (independent artists and designers), so buying directly from them supports the arts and crafts industries. Prices range from £20 up to £5,000, so there is a price for everyone. Free fast-entry tickets can be downloaded from the website for either opening day. “I am excited to be opening a fair in such a great world city,” said Dr C G Barlow, the fair’s founder. “My family hail from Manchester and I grew up in the region, so it is like coming home!” There are restaurant facilities at the fair by Badger and Bean, as well as a Sikare Mobile Massage and live Jazz music throughout the event.
The fair is free to the public and further information is available at: http://www.parallaxaf.co/manchester.html
